Goddess Benzaiten is the Shinto Goddess and is associated with the sea, as well as femininity. She is also the goddess of water, luck, music, eloquence, knowledge and love. She is the most revered deity in Japan after the Buddha. she forms as part of the Seven Gods of Fortune.
Legend says, she was married to a sea dragon, thus putting an end to his ravages of the island Enoshima ( a small island off the coast of Japan. Known for the famous Shinto shrine with statues of Benzaiten. She also has a white serpent as her messenger.
The Hindu form of Benzaiten would be Saraswati
