AINU SHAMAN

To the Ainu, the Bear is one of the mightier Gods in the parallel spirit homeland. After death, bears journeyed to this spirit land, giving their meat and fur to the people.
To honor this generosity, the people sent the bear's spirit home in a special ceremony, iyomante. Bears are considered ancestors in certain cultures and worshipped in rituals. To the Indigenous people of Hokkaido
The bear was a great shaman.
